Welcome

The Canadian International Law Students’ Conference (CILSC) is a joint initiative organised and run by students of the University of Toronto Faculty of Law and the Osgoode Hall Law School. This year, the conference will take place on February 6, 2010 and marks the 17th year of the conference. The CILSC provides a forum for law students, academics, practitioners, and leaders in the field of international law to exchange ideas in a collegial atmosphere.

The aim of the Conference is to give participants from across the country, the United States and abroad a better understanding of Canada’s international and domestic performance as a member of the international community, governed by international law. This year the panels being organised will discuss and debate fields including international environment regulation, corporate social responsibility, international criminal law, and international human trafficking.

The conference has a history of attracting prestigious speakers involved in the practice and study of international law. Past keynote speakers include the former UN Assistant Secretary-General, Mr. Denis Halliday, the Senior Advisor to the Director-General of the WTO, Mr. John Hancock, the former Minister of Foreign Affairs, Bill Graham and the Honourable Roméo A. Dallaire. We expect this year to be no less impressive and insightful in its selection of speakers.
